Indian Wells Tennis Garden

LJE

The state-of-the-art facility opened in March 2000, showcasing the second largest tennis stadium in the world and a full-service tennis club.  Former #1 US Player, tournament chairman and owner of the BNP Paribas Open, Charlie Pasarell, together with his partner, Raymond Moore formed PM Sports Management.  Pasarell and Moore teamed with International Management Group to privately fund the $77 million dynamic development.  Pasarell's vision was to create the best tennis facility at the dawning of a new century for everyone involved - both professional and amateur players, spectators, sponsors and the media.  This is the standard by which all tennis facilities past, present, and future, will be judged.

In 2006, International Managment Group was bought out by a group of private investors including Tennis Magazine, Pete Sampras, Chris Evert, Billie Jean King, Greg Norman, Charlie Pasarell, and Raymond Moore.

By late December 2009, the Indian Wells Tennis Garden and the BNP Paribas Open announced Larry Ellison, co-founder and CEO of Oracle Corporation (pictured right), whom formed Tennis Ventures, LLC. and became the new owner of the professional tennis tournament and the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.  Ellison, a tennis aficionado, relies on Pasarell, Moore and their staff to manage the event, which celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2010.

Currently, the site is expanding as it has begun construction to include a total of 23 hard courts in addition to the installation of lights that are set to be added to 10 of the courts.
