Welcome Ball Kids!
The 2010 BNP Paribas Open at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden will again be host to the top professional players in the world. The Tournament is only a few months away and we would like to invite all new and returning ball kids to join us again as important members of our team. Dates for the 2010 Tournament are Monday, March 8- Sunday, March 21.
IMPORTANT: Please read all of the following information regarding requirements and your commitment to this great event.
REQUIREMENTS TO BE A BALL KID:
- Between the ages of 12 and 20 years old.
- Willingness and ability to learn.
- Physically able to perform duties on the court.
- Work a minimum of five days, including 2 day sessions between March 8-12.
SKILLS NEEDED TO BE A BALL KID:
- Must have good agility and athletic ability.
- Be a good listener.
- Be able to roll 20 tennis balls the length of a tennis court in a 4-foot wide area.
- Be able to bounce tennis balls to another person from different distances.
- Understand roles of each Ball Kid position (“nets” and “backs”.)
- Tennis scoring knowledge.
- Ability to stand still for long periods of time while paying attention.
HOW TO BECOME A BALL KID:
- Complete the online Ball Kid Registration From - Now Closed for 2010.
- Attend mandatory training sessions.
- Complete the home study guide and successfully pass test at Brains Builder (you will receive a log in and code to access).
- All new Ball Kids or returning Ball Kids with one year of experience will be required to work 1 day of the BNP Paribas Open Challenge Tournament.
- All Ball Kids with two years of experience will be required to work the BNP Paribas Open Prequalifier Tournament.
- All Ball Kids must attend orientation and pick up your uniform, schedule, and parking passes.
